The Department of Defense has identified 1,279 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:
LEACH, Patrick D., 39, Chief Warrant Officer, Army National Guard; Rock Hill, S.C.; First Battalion, 151st Aviation.
SHIELDS, Andrew C., 25, First Lt., Army National Guard; Campobello, S.C.; First Battalion, 151st Aviation.
