So much to say, so little time to say it.

First off: WATER. This is a desert and the tap water will make you ill. Therefore it is quite necessary to buy a large quantity of bottled water and drink it constantly, which i am doing

Second: Plumbing. Its fairly western, however, the pipes are too small to handle TP. Most bathrooms on campus don't provide any for this very reason. So, when one visits the euphemism, one either uses this little bidet hose thats attached to the wall to clean off, or you bring your own TP and throw it in the waste basket next to the toilet. If you flush it, you can back up the whole system. point of (possible) interest: having your period here SUCKS.

Third: Food. Oh my GOD! the food! I am getting a bit tired of hummus day after day, but there are other things too, so the variety breaks it up a bit. There is actually quite a lot that I can eat, more than I expected. The thing to go for here is the sweets. Theres this one called "kanafa" thats a mild cheese layered with painfully sweet pastry noodles that are all crispy and really thin, then topped with pistachios. The turkish coffee rocks for waking up and is really tasty because they add Cardamom to it, but too much and the cardamom will give you acid reflux. The mint tea however, is AMAZING and very calming for a bloated gut (i have been officially over fed on multiple occasions now)

fourth: dont be a light sleeper, especially if you are staying near a mosque. Call to prayer is just before dawn and it will start you awake.

There is so much more, but it'll have to wait until i get pictures up.

We just finished orientation today and classes start on sunday (weekends are friday and saturday) so then everything will start for real. we've been pretty sheltered so far, having all of our meals provided and being bussed everywhere. Tonight the homestay students get picked up and tomorrow us apartment students get taken to our new homes.

I have a prepaid cell phone with a jordan number. Incoming calls are free so if you want my number and can make international calls, leave a comment with your email and i will send you the number.

Try calling me on fridays, its my day off, and remember that if you are in the US im 7 hours ahead of you.

love you all!
